A major update has been revealed for the upcoming second season of Percy Jackson, as Timothy Simons (The Hustle, Home Sweet Home Alone) joins the cast as the god Tantalus. According to Screenrant, Tantalus was in the Sea of Monsters book and was a sadistic god disliked by many as he was rude to the residents of Camp Half Blood. This marks his first appearance in the books. Timothy goes on to state in the interview with Screenrant about his excitement about portraying the upcoming character and stating it as being ‘fun; and ‘silly’, with the entire conversation seen below.
ScreenRant: I’m so excited to see you in Percy Jackson season 2. Some have said you are born to play Tantalus. How did you answer that call?
Simons: I found that one to be an incredibly fun, wildly good time. All the adults in that show get to be so silly and just have a great time, and all the kids have to take everything deadly seriously.
But this provided me with a lot of street cred for my kids, who had just gotten into Percy Jackson when I got cast. It really helped out around the house.
According to Screenrant, this isn’t the first time that Simons had showcased his comedic side as he played Officer Steven in the Goosebumps film. According to mxdwn, other additions that will be joining Timothy will be Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl, Resident Evil) as Thalia, Andra Day (Marshal, Car 3) as Athena) and Courtney B Vance (61st Street, Heist 88) as Zeus, previously portrayed by the late Lance Reddick (John Wick, Legends of Vox Machinia).
According to Screenrant, Tantalus will surely interact with the series main trio which includes Percy, played by Walker Scobell (The Adam Project, Secret Headquarters), Annabeth, played Leah Jeffries (Beast, Empire) and Grover, played by Aryan Simhadri (Spin, Cheaper by the Dozen). The second season is set to release sometime this December, but while the fans wait, the entire first season of Percy Jackson is available to stream on Disney+.
