Kenya Barris, creator of Black-ish, and Scott Mescudi, known by his stage name Kid Cudi, are bringing a unique experience to Netflix. The pair are behind an upcoming adult animated music series called Entergalactic. The show is based off the forthcoming Kid Cudi album of the same name. The show focuses on a young man’s journey to find love.
Kid Cudi (How To Make It In America, Westworld) will be the executive producer and writer in addition to starring in the series. Ian Edelman, the creator of How to Make It In America, will executive produce and co-write with Kid Cudi. Barris will also serve as an executive producer.
Kid Cudi tweeted about the project, describing the show as “something you’ve never experienced.” The tweet also hints at a possible 2020 release date.

Entergalactic will be Kid Cudi’s first solo album since his 2016 release, Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’. In addition to Entergalactic, Kid Cudi is set to be in HBO’s We Are Who We Are series. We Are Who We Are will be directed by Luca Guadagnino, the director of Academy Award nominated film Call Me By Your Name.
Entergalactic is the third project to come from Barris’s overall deal with Netflix. Barris’s production company, Khalabo Ink Society, is also bringing a sketch comedy show called Astronomy Club and the single-camera comedy Black Excellence. Black Excellence will star Barris and Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation, Angie Tribeca). The pair will also executive produce the sitcom. The show is guided by Barris’s views on relationships, parenting, race, and culture.
