Emma Stone Crowned As SNL’s Newest “5-Timer’s Club” Member

In last night’s episode of NBC’s Saturday Night Live, host Emma Stone (The House Bunny, The Curse) became the newest member of the Five-Timer’s Club. The club is for those who have hosted SNL at least five times. According to TV Line, Stone was joined by Tina Fey (Baby Mama, Mean Girls) and Candice Bergen (Miss Congeniality, Book Club) to announce the news during her opening monologue.

As Stone opened the show, Fey interjected to congratulate her. Additionally, Stone, who is 35 years old, is the now less exclusive club’s youngest member. Fey then continued to state that actress Candice Bergen established the women’s section of the Five-Timer’s Club room, hinting to Bergen to join the two women.

Continuing from Fey, Bergen joked about how the room came to be and how it was a “small, quiet place to cry.” She said the room then became a “big, luxurious place to cry.”

Fey and Bergen then came together to tell a joke about the time Bergen had access to a peephole leading to the men’s section of the club and how it scared her because she caught a glimpse of a “creepy ventriloquist dummy,” which just turned out to be John Mulaney (Big Mouth, The Bear), Fey clarified.

After a quick joke about how six million viewers on Fey’s 30 Rock wasn’t even a lot back in the 2010s, the two ladies congratulated Stone again on joining SNL’s herstory.

Starting in 1990, the Five-Timer’s Club has some notable names under its belt, such as Alec Baldwin (Beetlejuice, The Cat in the Hat), Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Cast Away), Melissa McCarthy (The Little Mermaid, Ghostbusters), Drew Berrymore (Charlie’s Angels, 50 First Dates) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow, Under the Skin).

Saturday Night Live airs at 11:30 p.m. from coast to coast. The Emmy-winning comedy show is currently in its 49th season.
