In 2011, Fox aired a mysterious thriller that left America breathless. American Horror Story was unexpected and original, combining elements of supernatural and horror movies to make a long-running TV show. The show will be entering its third season this year.
In season one, American Horror Story followed the Harmon family as they moved across the country into a haunted house. The inhabitants of this house had a tendency to die and their ghosts would be trapped on the property forever. In season two, the show told the story of a former tuberculosis hospital turned insane asylum in 1964.
Season three will again change gears. The third installment, titled American Horror Story: Coven, is set in New Orleans. Not much is known about this new season, but Deadline states that the actors from the first two seasons will return to the show in different rolls (as was done in season two).
As well as the returning actors, the show will also bring on several fresh faces. Among them is young actress Emma Roberts. Tvline reports that Roberts is coming back from FOX’s recent failed pilot of Delirium. Vulture reveals that Roberts’ role in American Horror Story will allow her to work with her real-life boyfriend, Evan Peters. Peters has been a regular on the show since its premiere in 2011.
According to Vulture, other new cast members for American Horror Story: Coven include Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe.
The third installment of American Horror Story, according to Vulture, starts filming this Summer and will air on Fox this October.
