According to Deadline, Hulu has ordered Elgin James’ (The Outlaws, Lowriders) Prison Break pilot to series. In the new pilot, a soldier-turned-corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves.” as we don’t know if this is the official synopsis. It’s too close to what the original article stated.

As per Deadline, the cast of the series includes Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, Sleeping Beauty) as Cassidy, Drake Rodger (Motorheads, The In Between) as Tommy, Lukas Gage (Smile 2, The White Lotus) as Jackson, Clayton Cardenas (Khali the Killer, American Crime) as Michael “Ghost”, JR Bourne (Teen Wolf, Miracle Desert) as Junior, Georgie Flores (Famous in Love, Kappa Kappa Die) as Andrea, and Myles Bullock (White Men Can’t Jump, Dead Inside) as Darius “Red.”

According to Deadline, James’ version of the series will be a standalone story that is part of  the original Fox series Prison Break from Paul Scheuring. The project is not expected to involve the characters at the center of the original series. The spinoff was first revealed to be in development in late 2023 and was picked up to pilot in December. The pilot also starred Priscilla Delgado (Los Protegidos, A League of Their Own), Ray McKinnon (Randy and the Mob, Knox Goes Away), Margo Martindale (The Sticky, The Millers), Donal Logue (Grounded Life, Just Like Heaven), Lili Taylor (The Conjuring, Say Anything) and Sylvester Powell (All American: Homecoming, The Longest Ride).

As per Deadline, Prison Break premiered on Fox in 2005 and ran for four seasons, then was revived for a nine-episode run in 2017. It starred Wentworth Miller as a man who deliberately has himself incarcerated as part of a plan to break out his wrongfully convicted brother.

According to Deadline, James serves as showrunner, executive producer, writer and director of the pilot, which was shot in West Virginia in June. Dawn Olmstead (The Experiment, Black Christmas), who executive produced the original series, returns as EP alongside James. Scheuring, Marty Adelstein (Made of Honor, Shifting Gears) and Neal Moritz (Fast Five, Furious 7) also EP. Prison Break comes to Hulu from 20th Television.
