Eka Darville To Appear in ‘The Defenders’ on Netflix

Another detail was released this week about the upcoming The Defenders series on Netflix.

Eka Darville, who played Jesica Jones’s (Krysten Ritter) neighbor and eventually semi-sidekick Malcolm Ducasse, will be reprising his role in Marvel’s The Defenders.

SpoilerTV caught up with Darville, who made an appearance at the Jessica Jones panel at Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Melbourne, Australia, where they asked, “Malcolm and Jessica were quite close by the end of Jessica Jones. So I was wondering if you know yet whether or not you’ll appear in The Defenders?”

Darville responded with, “Yes. I will be in it. I’m not sure how much yet but I will be in it.”

In Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix, Darville’s Malcolm is a junkie (and a thief). Once we get to know Malcolm, we discover that he too is under Kilgrave’s (David Tennant) control. After becoming a victim of Kilgrave’s power, Malcolm becomes an addict who provides Kilgrave with pictures of Jones in exchange for drugs.

The character of Malcolm Ducasse is actually based on the character Malcolm Powder from the comics. Powder was a high-school student and a huge fan of Jessica Jones and eventually gets her to hire him on as a part-time worker for Alias Investigations.

No big details have been shared about The Defenders and how significant a part Malcolm will play.

What we do know about The Defenders is that Daredevil’s Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez were named as the showrunnersAnd we know that, according to Charlie Coxthe production for The Defenders is set to begin this year.

No premiere date has been announced for The Defenders, but we can look forward to the Luke Cage premiere later this year on September 30.
