According to Deadline, Paramount+ just finalized Ed Harris as one of the leads in the Yellowstone spinoff series, The Dutton Ranch. Recently, Annette Bening (American Beauty, The Kids Are All Right) was cast as a lead in the series. They both join Yellowstone original stars Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone, Little Wing), Cole Hauser (Dead Man’s Hand, The Ritual Killer), and Finn Little (The Surfer, Harrow) for the new series.
The Dutton Ranch is the home of the characters, Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, played by Reilly and Hauser. This 7000-acre land is the home that these two nearly died and fought so hard to keep. Beth and Rip do what they need to do in order to survive.
According to Deadline, Paramount Television and 101 Studios will introduce a new character in the Yellowstone Universe, Everett McKinny, played by Harris. McKinney is a weathered-looking veterinarian who has compassion, understanding, and a good sense of humor. The spinoff continues along the same timeline as the original series, Yellowstone. It follows the Dutton family, which controls the largest cattle ranch in the United States. Yellowstone was co-created by Taylor Sheridan (The Madison, 1944) and John Linson (The Madison, The Challenger), who also double as the executive producers along with, Art Linson (Heat 2, The Challenger), Kevin Costner (Headhunters, Let Him Go), David C Glasser (Tulsa King, 1923), Bob Yair (The Madison, Bride Hard), Stephen Kay (Landman, Lioness), Michael Friedman (Landman, Lioness), and Christina Voros (Big Sky, 1883).
According to Deadline, Harris has several Academy Award nominations for projects such as Apollo 13, The Truman Show, Pollock, and The Hours. He has Emmy nominations for his work on Westworld, Game Change, and Empire Falls. Harris has an extensive resume, which includes a Tony Award for his performance in Precious Sons. His last performance was on HBO’s Westworld. Other credits include Stepmom, Walking the Dead, and Top Gun: Maverick.
