It has been almost two decades that the ethereal world of Mortis was introduced within Star Wars: The Clone Wars and seems that it will be making a comeback in the approaching second season of Ahsoka. According to Screenrant, Mortis was revealed to be a realm within the Force, first making its appearance in The Clone Wars Season 3, Episode 15. The realm’s population is a family of three powerful Force-wielders: the Father, representing the balance of the Force; the Daughter, representing the light side; and the Son, representing the dark side.
Reported by Screenrant, Ahsoka, played by Rosario Dawson (Rent, Unstoppable), has a history with them. She, Obi-Wan, and Anakin once went on a mission to a strange realm, where they encountered powerful entities who put Anakin through deadly trials to see if he was the Chosen One. Other moments in which the mortis gods where mentioned was back mentioned in Star Wars: Rebl in the form of a mural and at the ending of Ahsoka’s seasone one in which a statue of the Ftaher was shown.
Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian, Star Wars: Resistance) stated in an interview with Screenrant about further exploring more into the Mortis Gods and that they will test Ahsoka’s own beliefs,” (What If”What we’re dealing with is: are you going to believe in this, or not? And what is the danger if it’s real? And how are you going to prioritise your goals here? What would a Jedi do, versus what would a regular person do? Those things come up through the course of the season.”
The return of the Mortis Gods has Star Wars fans eagerly waiting to see how they will impact the upcoming story. While waiting on the second season’s debut which is scheduled for January 20, fans can rewatch the entire first season of Ahsoka on Disney+ to refresh their minds.
