HBO Max is bringing Rage (Furia) back for its second installment this fall, with new group of women taking center stage in the Spanish original series. According to a Warner Bros. Discovery press release, Rage Part Two will premiere October 9 on HBO Max.
Before its streaming debut, the new installment will premiere September 21 at the San Sebastián Film Festival, with members of the cast and creative team attending. Maribel Verdú (Y Tu Mamá También, The Flash), Carmen Maura (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Volver), María León (The Sleeping Voice, The House of Flowers), Cecilia Suárez (The House of Flowers, Someone Has to Die), Ana Mena (Welcome to Eden, Viaje al cuarto de una madre), Clara Sans (Cardo, La Mesías), Claudia Salas (Elite, The Plague) and Ana Torrent (The Spirit of the Beehive, Cría Cuervos) lead the new installment.
The press release notes that the second part follows several women trapped in a market-driven system where nearly anything can be turned into a profitable spectacle. Faced with increasingly difficult circumstances, the women are left with rage as their main weapon.
Félix Sabroso (The Island Inside, Sexykiller) returns as creator and director. He also co-writes the series with Juan Flahn (Chuecatown, Boystown) and shares directing duties with Jau Fornés.
The new installment will consist of eight 30-minute episodes. The first installment of Rage premiered in July 2025 and became HBO Max’s most-watched series in Spain since 2021, behind only House of the Dragon and The Last of Us, according to the press release.
Its original ensemble included Carmen Machi (Aída, Spanish Affair), Candela Peña (Princesas, Hierro), Cecilia Roth (All About My Mother, Pain and Glory), Nathalie Poza (Julieta, Rosa’s Wedding) and Pilar Castro (Through My Window, Official Competition).
The first cast received a special jury prize at the Rose d’Or, while Machi, Peña, Roth, Poza and Castro shared the Ondas Award for Best Female Performance with Salas and Torrent. The series also received nominations at the Feroz, Forqué and Iris Awards, including recognition for Peña’s performance and Sabroso’s direction.
