The highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender gives an official first look of none other than Toph Beifong, who will be played by Miya Cech (Rim of the World, The Darkest Hour) across their social medias. According to Screenrant, Toph within the series is a blind earthbender nicknamed the “The Blind Bandit”, who joins the gang and becomes Aang’s earthbending teacher. The first look shows the gang on top of mountain in dramatic poses with Appa flying in the background.
According to Screenrant, this season will follow where the previous ended with Aang, played by Gordon Cormier (Lost in Space, The Stand) Katara, played by Kiawentiio (It: Welcome to Derry, Marvel’s What If…?) and Sokka, played by Ian Ousley (Big Shits, 13 Reasons Why) have protected the northern water tribe from the fire nation forces. Furthermore, we see that Zuko, played Dallas Liu (Tekken, Underdog Kids) and his uncle, Iroh, played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (The Mandalorian, Ahsoka) are now fugitives and are traversing the lands.
The live adaptation for the upcoming second season will surely capture the important events within the original show, such as the gang’s arrival to Ba Sing Se and their journey to discover the hidden library to prepare for the war,
In an interview with Tudum, the series executive producers Christine Boylan (Cloak & Dagger, The Punisher) and Jabbar Raisan (Game of Thrones, Iron Man) spoke about returning to set and working with the crew,” We are going to show the real-world versions of iconic scenes from the original, and explore some of the stories that the animation didn’t. Mainly, we’re looking forward to seeing our gang all together again.”
While waiting on further news on the exact release date for the second season, which is scheduled for for 2026, the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender’s first season is available to stream on Netflix. Screenrant reports, this won’t be the only season in production as a third season is also in the works.
