Stranger Things was a seminal television series of the 2010s. No matter if the last season received mixed reviews, fans still patiently await what the Duffer Brothers(Wayward Pines, Hidden) do next. Comicbook has reported they are executive producing the series’ Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen and The Boroughs. The latter recently dropped a trailer which stirred some reaction from fans that we haven’t seen since Conformity Gate. View the trailer below.
From the same creators of The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance, Jeffrey Addiss (Life In A Year, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim) and Will Matthews (Life In A Year, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, Boroughs has drawn comparisons to both the 1985 film Cocoon as well as Stranger Things itself. Although the cast of lovable tween nerds has been replaced by retirees, causing the series to be dubbed “Stranger Things but Old People” or “Stranger Things with a gang of AARP members,” via Comicbook.
Boroughs follows Sam Cooper, played by Alfred Molina, as he tries to protect his tranquil retirement community from “something monstrous ”.Before any speculation starts that this may be a secretive spin-off of Stranger Things, please leave your tin hats in January. The likelihood of Netflix not renewing the smash series is next to nil. The series being produced by The Duffers will obviously carry some of their trademarks be within their genre,
The plot is intriguing, and the cast is loaded with talent and experience, so hopefully, fans can be happy this go-round with a similar, albeit more “mature,” series. In addition to Molina, we will see Bill Pullman (Twister, Independence Day), Denis O’Hare (True Blood, American Horror Story), and Jena Malone (Sucker Punch, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire). The series will have other iconic stars appear, including Ed Begley Jr. (Young Sheldon, A Mighty Wind), Geena Davis (Beetlejuice, Last Kiss Goodnight), Clarke Peters (The Wire, John Wick), Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle, Chips), Eric Edelstein (Shameless, Green Room), and Dee Wallace (Cujo, Critters).
