‘Doom Patrol’ and ‘Search Party’ Among First HBO Max Originals Announced on Streaming Platform

Max Originals titles like Doom Patrol, Search Party and Adventure Time: Distance Lands have been announced for second-wave content on June 25, according to Coming Soon. HBO will launch their streaming service HBO Max on May 27.

Created by WarnerMedia, HBO Max is subscription-based and costs $14.99 / month. The service will offer all HBO Now titles and people who sign up early can receive a 20% discount on their first year of use, Business Insider said. Current HBO subscribers who use AT&T qualify for a free year of HBO Max.

Season 2 of the DC Universe Doom Patrol, developed for TV by Jeremy Carver (Supernatural), will arrive June 25. With powers gained from tragic circumstances, returning cast Jane, played by Diane Guerrero (Orange is the New Black), Rita Farr, played by April Bowlby (Drop Dead Diva), Larry Trainor, played by both Matt Bomer (Magic Mike) and Matthew Zuk (The 5th Wave), and Cliff Steele, played by both Brendan Fraser (The Mummy) and Riley Shanahan (The Gender Card Flip) will continue their heroic quests together.

Search Party follows main character Dory Sief, played by Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development), and friends as they explore the disappearance of Sief’s college roommate, Chantal Witherbottom, played by Clare McNulty (Fort Tilden). Season 2 will feature more mystery as the crew looks into a death of private investigator Keith Powell, played by Ron Livingston (A Million Little Things).

From the Emmy and Peabody award-winners, Jake the Dog and Finn the Human from the Adventure Times franchise will return in the first of four hour-long specials on June 25, Coming Soon said. Adventure Times: Distant Lands will have Jake, voiced by John DiMaggio (Futurama) and Finn, voiced by Jeremy Shada (Voltron: Legendary Defender) as the comedic leads.

With more than 15,000 hours of downloadable content, subscribers are bound to find something to watch when HBO Max launches May 27.
