Donald Glover plays the hilariously childish Troy on Community. According to Vulture, however, Glover will be spending less time on Community in its fifth season.
Glover’s reps and Community producer Sony Pictures Television have worked out a new agreement that will see Glover appearing as Troy Barnes in just five of the show’s upcoming thirteen episodes. Vulture reports, “The studio probably could have insisted on Glover committing to all thirteen half-hour episodes (or more, if NBC ordered them), but as often happens in Hollywood, both camps found a way to compromise.”
For seven of the upcoming episodes, fans will be missing half of Troy & Abed in the Morning. Coupled with the fact that Chevy Chase will not be returning as Pierce Hawthorn, it is hard to tell what to expect of the surprise season 5.
Instead of spending all of his time at Greendale, Glover will be focusing on his music. Meanwhile, Sony will save some money since it won’t have to pay Glover for every episode.
