Don Cheadle Joins Peacock’s Limited Drama Series ‘Fight Night’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Don Cheadle (The Wonder Years, The Boys Presents: Diabolical) has joined the cast of Peacock’s limited-time series Fight Night. The drama series is produced by Will Packer (Dashing Through the Snow) alongside iHeart Podcast and Doghouse Pictures. Cheadle will be making regular appearances on the series and will be playing the role of JD Hudson, who is one of Atlanta’s first Black detectives assigned to Muhammad Ali’s security detail and the robbery that takes place the night that the series is based on. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter,  the description of the series is as follows: “The heavyweight fight and criminal underground heist that introduced the world to the city dubbed ‘the Black Mecca,’ and the cop and the hustler at the center of it all.”

Cheadle joins a cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson (Secret Invasion) as Frank Moten, Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) as Vivian Thomas, Dexter Darden (The Maze Runner) as Muhammad Ali, and Terrence Howard (The Best Man: The Final Chapters) as Richard Wheeler. Myles Bullock (White Men Can’t Jump) and Kevin Hart (Celebrity Game Face) will also star in the series with roles yet to be announced.  

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Packer also serves as co-showrunner for the series with Jason Horwitch (Luke Cage) and series creator Shaye Ogbonna (The Chi). Packer, Horwitch, and Ogbonna executive produce as well alongside Hart and his Hartbeat Productions partners Bryan Smiley (Street King), Mike Stein (Die Hart). Other executive producers include Sabrina Wind (Desperate Housewives) for Will Packer Media, Conal Byrne (The Blood Bond) and newcomer Carrie Lieberman for iHeartPodcasts, and Jeff Keating (Follow Me) of Doghouse Pictures LLC and Lars Jacobson (Day of the Dead: Bloodline).

Currently, Peacock has yet to give a premiere window for the series.
