‘Doctor Who’ Welcomes Actor Miriam Margolyes To The Cast As Beep The Meep

The original Doctor Who first premiered in 1963 to 1989, and the revitalized version of Doctor Who premiered in 2005. The latest version of Doctor Who has consisted of thirteen seasons thus far with the fourteenth season set to release in 2024. In the meantime, three special episodes for the series’ 60th anniversary will premiere in November of this year along with a Christmas special in December.

According to Deadline, joining the cast for these special episodes is Miriam Margolyes (James and the Giant Peach, Little Shop of Horrors). One of Margolyes’ famous roles was as Professor Pomona Sprout in the Harry Potter franchise. She will be voicing Beep the Meep, which is a creature from the franchise that is much more dangerous than it seems. This creature is from Doctor Who and the Star Beast, which is a comic.

As Deadline notes, Margolyes spoke about the opportunity to be a part of the Doctor Who cast. She stated, “I’m relieved I got to work on Doctor Who before I died.”

She continued, “With sci-fi you never know. Thank you for making an old woman very happy.”

Russell T. Davies (The Sarah Jane Adventures, It’s a Sin) returns as the writer and producer of Doctor Who for the three special episodes and season fourteen. Additionally, for the special episodes, David Tennant (Good Omens, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) will be returning to the Doctor Who franchise to play the Fourteenth Doctor. Catherine Tate (Queen of Oz, The Catherine Tate Show) will also be returning and reprising her role as Donna Noble.

For the fourteenth season premiering in 2024, Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education, Barbie) will be the Fifteenth Doctor. The new season will consist of eight episodes. Other cast members include Yasmin Finney (Heartstopper, Anything’s Possible) as Rose, Millie Gibson (Jamie Johnson, Butterfly) as Ruby, Indira Varma (Game of Thrones, Obi-Wan Kenobi) as the Dutchess, and more.

Fans of Miriam Margolyes can look forward to her role as Beep the Meep in November.
