According to Daily Mirror‘s Nicola Methven via Deadline, the decision was made by the series’ showrunner, Russell T Davies(Torchwood) , that Gibson will not appear after her first full season, which premieres in May.As Deadline notes, although not an explicit confirmation of the news, Ncuti Gatwa(Sex Education), who plays the Doctor, posted a story on Instagram with Gibson. The caption read “my lil” with the gemini sign and heart.
According to Deadline, a trustworthy source has told the Daily Mirror,”Millie Gibson has all but left now and there’s a brand new companion, which is really exciting, Russell is keeping things moving and isn’t letting the grass grow, that’s for sure.”
With Ruby’s departure for the Doctor Who universe remains a mystery, but also bittersweet, leaving fans of the franchise confuse on how they will adapt it into the finale.
