Disney+’s ‘WandaVision’ To Have Two Episode Premiere

The rumor of WandaVision having a two-episode premiere was confirmed by a recent Disney press release, according to ComicBook. WandaVision was announced back in April of 2019 and fans began to speculate about the series and its narrative. “The first 2 episodes will premiere on Disney+ on Friday, January 15. Episode 3 will debut on Friday, January 22,” Disney stated as reported by ComicBook.

WandaVision will star Elizabeth Olsen (Martha, Martha Marcy May Marlene) as Scarlett Witch a.k.a Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany (Geoffrey Chaucer, A Knights Tale) as The Vision. It will revolve around the two heroes doing the best they can to engage in the life of an average suburban couple. The series is compared to classic sitcoms in the official synopsis so this show will most likely feature a more jovial mood when compared to the last time fans watched the pair in Avengers: Infinity War.

The show has had a lot of publicity as of late featuring on talk shows and gaining a crowd of MCU fans that are waiting for its exploration of a narrative where time seems to be fluent and manipulated. Whether it be by Wanda or a mysterious force, the timeline seems to have the past and present grapple with Wanda’s grasp on reality. Wandavision’s premiere date was announced back in early November and it was confirmed that the story will take place after Avengers: Endgame. Elizabeth Olsen also had special never before seen clip premiere on Kimmel when she guest starred. Last but certainly not least, Disney released teaser for Wandavsion about a week ago that has fans excited and ready for the premiere.

Scarlett Witch was introduced into Marvel Comics in 1964 and was created by comic writing dynamic duo Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. In the 1980s it was revealed that Scarlett Witch is actually the daughter of Magneto. However, a retcon came out in 2010 changing her backstory from being a mutant to the victim of genetic experimentation. Later she discovers Magneto was not her father, but instead she was deceived. The question remains as to what Disney will do about this information and if it’s possible to see Ian Mckellen (Gandalf, Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring) or maybe even Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs, Steve Jobs) return to the role and make a guest appearance on the show. This would potentially be possible given Wanda’s reality warping powers.

Wanda is a character that is ripe for exploration from an original series like this because her powers can be expanded upon and explained. Scarlett Witch has the unique abilities of probability, matter, and reality manipulation. Meaning that given the opportunity, this series could give fans some insight into how she is able to warp reality and what kind of consequences coincide with doing so. Some of these elements are just days away from being explored as the episodes will launch exclusively on Disney+ on Friday January 15.
