The upcoming MCU Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will include the return of another Marvel superhero on top of the two titular characters. In an appearance for a BroBible podcast, Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda) confirmed that he will reprise his MCU character War Machine, or James Rhodes, for the upcoming series, according to Screen Rant. Regardless of Cheadle’s confirmation of his involvement, it is still unknown the full extent of his inclusion within the Marvel series.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to premiere on March 19 with a six-episode first season after several production delays due to COVID-19. The Disney+ original series centers on the events following Avengers: Endgame and the relationship between Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes as they work together to combat the Flag-Smashers. The series will feature the returns of Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) as Wilson/Falcon, Sebastian Stan (The Martian) as Barnes/Winter Soldier, and Daniel Brühl’s (Inglourious Basterds) Baron Helmut Zemo. The series cast will also include Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street) and Emily VanCamp (The Resident, Everwood).
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is primed to be a piece of the MCU’s Phase Four and television lineup. Cheadle’s involvement adds to his already announced casting in another Dinsey+ and Marvel Studios series Armor Wars. There is no expected premiere date for this series.
