The next series on Disney+, VisionQuest, premieres on October 14th of this year. According to Screenrant, the franchise will revisit the most tragic death of Tony Stark from the Avengers: Endgame and the possible return of famous characters.
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise is approaching their next Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday, to conclude the Multiverse Saga, VisionQuest will follow back to previous films from the franchise, specifically ones that have Iron-Man involved. They will help to understand what’s to come next for the MCU. Focusing on Vision’s life after Westview and the events of Avengers: Infinity War, he has placed himself in his mind connected to familiar A.I characters that Stark created, including James D’Arcy (Agent Carter) as J.A.R.V.I.S. and Orla Brady (The Foreigner, Into the Badlands) as F.R.I.D.A.Y.
Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys) revealed in an interview that one of the programmed characters, F.R.I.D.A.Y. was there when Tony died. The whole purpose of Stark’s suits and equipment are to fulfill their program on protecting people from the dangers of their universe. When Tony died, F.R.I.D.A.Y. couldn’t do anything to save him except watch and hear is heartbeat slowly stop.
Matalas also expands further with the possible appearance of Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in the new series. The showrunner is working on a scene with Paul Bettany (The Da Vinci Code) as Vision that includes a big important character; however, he stresses enough to say in the interview that it isn’t Wanda. Though this series is the final part to the WandaVision trilogy, Matalas wants the series to focus on Vision’s story and his origins that might be bigger than being a host to Ultron played by James Spader (The Blacklist, The Practice) during Avengers: Age of Ultron. There will be a reference to the previous shows from the trilogy (WandaVision and Agatha All Along) and a new character, Tommy Maximoff played by Ruaridh Mollica (The Franchise).
In the sense of continuing the TV show after ending Phase 6, Matalas says they may continue the series with a second season for Disney+. It is not official as Disney and Marvel Studios might want to go another direction, too.
