According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney XD will be adding two animated shows to its original series list. The two animated comedies are titled Billy Dilley’s Super-Duper Subterranean Summer and Country Club.
The creator of the Billy Dilley series is Aaron Springer (SpongeBob SquarePants), an Emmy Award-winning director. And Country Club was created by Chris and Shane Houghton (Harvey Beaks). Both shows will be produced by Disney Television Animation.Disney XD also renewed Star vs. The Forces of Evil from creator Daron Nefcy as well as a short-form comedy titled Two More Eggs from Mike and Matt Chapman.
Billy Dilley is about an eccentric science-obsessed 7th grader Billy Dilley and his lab partners Marsha and Zeke as their summer vacation takes an unexpected turn as they find themselves trapped in a wild, magical world underneath the earth’s surface.
Playing the voice of Billy is Jessica McKenna (Fox’s sketch series Party Over Here). Tom Kenny the voice behind SpongeBob SquarePants will lend his voice for the role of Zeke. And lastly, YouTuber Catie Wayne (Animalist) will be voicing Marsha. Springer will serve as executive producer for the animated series.
Country Club revolves around character Cricket Green a mischievous and bubbly country boy who eventually moves to the big city with his family. Cricket’s natural curiosity and optimism results in daily epic journeys with his out of place family. Executive producer Rob Renzetti (Gravity Falls) will also be directing for the animated series along with the Houghton brothers who will help produce Country Club.
Marc Buhaj, the senior vice president of programming and general manager of Disney XD stated “Animation is strongly resonating with the Disney XD audience, and we are dedicated to expanding our roster of world-class creators including Aaron, Chris and Shane,” Buhaj went on to say that “Our audience will be treated to engaging, original comedic storytelling through the unique visions of each of our creators.”
Billy Dilley will premiere in 2017 while Country Club is expected to debut later in 2018.
