According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney+ has recently revealed an official trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The new trailer gives fans a closer look at the challenges that Percy will have to face as he learns that he is the son of a Greek god. The trailer expands more on many scenes from the initial teaser trailer. It shows the main characters in new settings, facing off against new threats. The series premieres on Disney+ on December 20th.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be based on a popular book franchise by Rick Riordan (Lost Hero). The first season will focus on the first novel The Lightning Thief. The series will follow young Percy Jackson in the most dangerous quest of his life. After learning he is the son of a god and in fact, is a demigod, Percy is tasked with finding Zeus’ lightning bolt. This quest involves him and his friends traveling through the United States as monsters from the Underworld attempt to stop him and find the lightning bolt. Before the series, the franchise had two film adaptations: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
The series cast includes Walker Scobell (The Adam Project) as Percy Jackson, Leah Jeffries (Beast) as Annabeth Chase, Aryan Simhadri (Cheaper by the Dozen) as Grover Underwood, Jason Mantzoukas (Invincible) as Dionysus/ Mr.D, Adam Copeland (WWW Smackdown!) as Ares, Threnody Tsai (Vampire Zombies) as Sarah, Charlie Bushnell (Diary of Future President) as Luke Bushnell, Timothy Omundson (This Is Us) as Hephaestus, Toby Stephens (Die Another Day) as Poseidon, Jay Duplass (The Chair) as Hades, and the late Lance Reddick (John Wick: Chapter Two) as Zeus.
