Attention all Star Wars fans, Disney+ has dropped a teaser trailer for its new series called Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord. The series will follow the same animation style as Star Wars: The Clone Wars and focus on the memorable Sith Lord Darth Maul.

According to the press release, the series is set after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars where we will see Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet that is untouched by the Empire. However, he will cross paths with a young Jedi Padawan that could be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit for revenge. According to the Star Wars Website, the executive producer had this to say about the setting for the series, “‘It’s one part Gotham, one part Metropolis and a hundred percent Star Wars with all these different levels and layers,’ says Michnovetz. ‘It’s a city essentially built into a crater on this planet that is untouched by the Empire. It’s got a functioning democracy and law enforcement doing a good job of policing their own community. It’s a rich environment for crime and gangsters, but so far there’s been a very peaceful accord between all of them in the interest of business.’”

The cast consists of Sam Witwer (Leverage: Redemption, Star Trek: Lower Decks), David C. Collins (Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, Skeleton Crew), A.J. LoCascio (I’m Happy You’re Here, Foolish Mortals), Vanessa Marshall (Primal, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft), Gideon Adlon (Euphoria, Ghosts), Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent, Dope Thief), Richard Ayoade (Krapopolis, The Bad Guys 2), Dennis Haysbert (Send Help, Digman!), Chris Diamantopoulous (Invincible, Diary of A Wimpy Kid:The Last Straw), and Charlie Bushnell (Percy Jackson and the Olympians). The executive producers behind the project are Dave Filoni (Ahsoka, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire), Athena Yvette Portillo (Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars: Visions), Matt Michnovetz (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Star Wars: Rebel), Brad Rau (Star Wars: Resistance, Star Wars: Forces of Destiny), Carrie Beck (Light & Magic, The Mandalorian), and Josh Rimes (Young Jedi Adventures, Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy).

The series is set to premiere on April 6, 2026.
