Disney Plus Releases ASMR Series ‘Zenimation’

In addition to Star Wars, Marvel, and Disney content, comes Zenimation, a new television series with a unique spin launched by Disney Plus. The series contains no character dialogue or traditional music from films. Instead the series highlights different sounds and backdrops from iconic Disney movies according to comicbook.com. Each episode depicts characters and scenes from a variety of animated films.

With the recent additions of Gargoyles, Avengers: Endgame, and The Mandalorian, Zenimation takes twist to Disney’s typical high energy series. Each episode gears around a specific sense which includes Discovery, Flight, Serenity, and Water Relms. Every episode offers something different to “refresh your senses for a moment of mindfulness” according disneyplus.com. Traditional Disney scenes transform into “an aural experience like no other with the sounds of ocean waves, an icy forest and soaring flight” via comicbook.com.  Viewers are invited to gaze at the sky, enjoy moments of calmness, explore the sea, and discover flight. A montage of different scenes  are combined into each 5 to 7 minute episode. The 10 episode series includes characters such as Stitch (Lilo and Stitch), Ariel (The Little Mermaid), Anna (Frozen series), and Tarzan (Tarzan).

The series consisting of animated shorts was created by David Bess (Tangled Ever After), an editor Walt Disney Animation Studios. Zenimation is a tribute to the visual and sound artists that have contributed to the company’s animation studio. Zenimation is now available to stream its entirely on disneyplus.com.
