Disney Plus Releases ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Trailer

The hierarchy of the criminal underworld in the Star Wars universe is about to change as Disney Plus unveiled the first look at The Book of Boba Fett starring Temuera Morrison (Aquaman, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones) in the title role. The show is a product of The Mandalorian, specifically its second season, where Morrison reprised his character for the first time since playing Boba Fett’s father, Jango Fett, in 2002’s Attack of the Clones.

Check out the trailer below.

Morrison was a supporting character then, but in this trailer we see that Boba has become the main character along with Ming Na Wen’s (Agents of Shield, Mulan) character Fennec Shand. The two of them will supposedly explore Tattoine’s criminal underworld as Boba tries to get a handle on it and become the new boss of the major crime syndicate.

The trailer made it apparent from the start that this is not going to be the Boba Fett fans remember as he has left the bounty hunter’s life. The show will reportedly dive deeper into the character’s motivations to create a more organized crime family, and explore the legacy of Jabba the Hutt: the original crime lord from the original trilogy.

Filmmakers Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels), Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Lion King), Kathleen Kennedy (Jurassic Park, E.T.), Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Till Dawn, Spy Kids), and Colin Wilson (Avatar, Suicide Squad) are all returning from working on The Mandalorian to be executive producers on this project as well. Rodriguez will also return to direct the show.

“I can’t say anything about that, sworn to silence. I can say I’m working on it and I can tell you it’s gonna blow your mind,” the director and executive producer said in an interview with ComicBook.com.You saw him arrive in my episode of The Mandalorian, that was nothing. That was nothing. I can talk it up all I want because I know it’s gonna deliver, I know it’s gonna over-deliver.”

The show will launch exclusively on Disney Plus on Dec. 29th.
