ComicBook TV has confirmed that Disney+ has changed the premiere date of Marvel’s Loki season two into a primetime slot! The new premiere date falls on Thursday, October 5; the premiere will be available for streaming starting on the previously mentioned date at six pm PT, or nine pm ET.
Marvel Studios released an announcement via X.
After the premiere on the fifth, all episodes will follow at the same time each following Thursday.
The change in date is likely following in the footsteps of Star Wars: Ahsoka, which has seen great success releasing weekly in a primetime slot. ComicBook TV explains how this benefits both the platform and the series wonderfully, “Ahsoka has shown that primetime evening releases allow for more viewers watching in the initial hours of release, and social media buzz building to bigger heights throughout the night, becoming trending topics by morning.” This has proven to be successful in both audience engagement and is a great marketing tactic!
In season two of Loki, it’s understood that Tom Hiddleston’s (Thor, Kong: Skull Island) character, Loki, will be discovering his heroic side. Loki has to put up fight to get back into his own reality in the Multiverse. He also tries to warn the MCU about the dangers of Kang the Conqueror, portrayed by Jonathan Majors (Creed III, Lovecraft Country). He also learns that saving those he is close with is a top priority, according to ComicBook.
The official synopsis reads: “Loki Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of a shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along withMobius, Hunter B-15, and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous Multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.”
