According to Comicbook, Disney+ has recently canceled the fan-favorite rebooted series Doogie Kameāloha M.D. After two seasons it was stated on TVLine report that the streamer has canceled the live-action series and is officially over.
According to Comicbook, Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. is gender-swapped version of the 1989 series Doogie Howser, M.D., which started with Neil Patric Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and followed the story of a medical protege. In the series, Doogie is a child prodigy who must now find balance in juggling her medical career and her family. This becomes harder than it seems due to her own mother being also her boss.
The series stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee (Andi Mack), Emma Meisel (American Horror Story), Matthew Sato (Grown-ish), Wes Tian (Made In Hollywood), Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman (RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars), Mapuana Makia (Finding ‘Ohana), Kathleen Rose Perkins (The Island), and Jason Scott Lee (Lilo & Stitch). Guest stars included Barry Bostwick (Megaforce), Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat), Daniel Dae Kim (Joy Ride), Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians), Alyson Hannigan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Magic Johnson (Obsessed), Margaret Cho (30 Rock), Max Greenfield (New Girl) and many others.
“I’m so happy,” Harris previously said of the reboot. “The creator of it was a big producer on How I Met Your Mother. I think setting it with a female protagonist is a great call… I think it’s in really good hands. I feel like it’s a passion project for many and I can’t wait to watch it.”
According to Comicbook, this adds to the long list of series that Disney+ has canceled in the years. Cancellations include The Mysterious Benedict Society, National Treasure: Edge of History, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Big Shot, Turner & Hooch, Diary of Future President, and Willow.
All seasons of Doogie Kameāloha M.D. are currently available to stream on Disney+.
