A new antihero is coming to Disney+. According to Deadline, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige (What If..?, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) announced yesterday at the Disney Upfront that the new Marvel series Echo will premiere on November 29. The show is spinoff of the Hawkeye series that premiered on Disney+ in the Winter of 2021.
According to Deadline, the show will bring new binging strategy to Disney+. Unlike all the previous Marvel shows premiered on Disney+, Echo will premiere with all its episodes on November 29 allowing fans to watch the entire show in one sitting. This news was also accompanied by the announcement of the premiere date of Loki season two.
During the Disney Upfront Feige gave the public some insight into the new show coming at the end of the year. He said, “In Hawkeye, fans were first introduced to Maya Lopez, a character played by Alaqua Cox. She will return to get her revenge in Echo, a limited drama from an incredible team of indigenous writers, directors, and cast members.”
Echo will star Alaqua Cox (Hawkeye) as Maya Lopez; Zahn McClarnon (Reservation Dogs, Westworld) as William Lopez; Vincent D’Onofrio (Godfather of Harlem, The Kid) reprising his role as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin; Charlie Cox (Stardust, Kin) also reprising his role as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil; Chaske Spencer (The Twilight Saga, Blindspot); Tantoo Cardinal (Three Pines, The Last Manhunt); Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs, The Order) as Julie; Cody Lightning (Run Woman Run, Chasing the Light); and Graham Greene (Defiance, Wind River).
The show will follow Maya Lopez, a deaf Native American superhero who has the power to imitate the fighting style of any of her opponents. The show will follow Maya as she leaves New York City and returns to her hometown. Maya, played by Cox, was introduced during Hawkeye’s six-episode run. Maya has encountered heroes like Daredevil, Moon Knight, and the Avengers in the Marvel comics.
Echo will premiere on November 29 on Disney+. The Hawkeye series is available to stream on Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again, the new Daredevil show starring Cox and D’Onofrio, is still in pre-production.
