One of the many upcoming Marvel series set to hit Disney+ is Moon Knight which has previously revealed the titular hero character will be played by Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina). The MCU series has now announced that actor Ethan Hawke (Boyhood, Sinister) will join the upcoming series in a role that remains under wraps according to Entertainment Weekly. This news comes on the heels of the casting of May Calamawy (Ramy) for the upcoming comic book series. Written for television by Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy), the series will also feature directors Mohamed Diab (Cairo 678) in addition to the duo of Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson (The Endless).
Isaac will portray Marc Spector, or Moon Knight, for the Marvel series set to premiere sometime in 2022. The series will have a six-episode first season and is aiming to introduce Moon Knight and Spector, an ex-CIA agent who has come into improved and lethal mercenary skills as a result of receiving powers from a Moon God. Hawke’s role remains unknown currently, but speculation from fans offers that he may be cast in the show’s main villain role. The Moon Knight character is based on the Marvel comic book character that was created by Doug Moench (Batman).
The Moon Knight casting announcement of Hawke follows the recent release of the first two episodes of WandaVision on Disney+. WandaVision is the first of many Marvel Studios series to stream on the Disney streaming service such as What If…?, Hawkeye, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki, Moon Knight, and many more.
Currently, it is unknown when Moon Knight will begin production and air in 2022.
