Disney+ and Hulu subscribers are getting another price increase, as Disney raises rates across several streaming plans in the U.S. According to Variety, the ad-free Disney+ Premium and Hulu Premium plans will each increase from $18.99 to $21.49 per month, a 13% jump.
The changes take effect Sept. 23 for new subscribers, while existing customers will see higher prices on their next monthly bill, making Disney’s bundles more attractive. The Disney+ and Hulu Premium bundle will increase from $19.99 to $21.99 per month, nearly half the price of purchasing both ad-free services separately.
Variety notes that ad-supported subscribers are also seeing increases. Standalone Disney+ and Hulu plans with ads will rise from $11.99 to $12.49 per month. However, the Disney+ and Hulu ad-supported bundle will remain unchanged at $12.99.
The increases arrive as streaming prices continue to climb across the industry. As mxdwn previously covered, Apple TV recently raised its subscription price, adding another major streaming platform to the growing list of services asking customers to pay more.
Netflix has followed a similar path. Previous coverage detailed the streamer’s second price increase in fourteen months, raising its ad-supported, Standard, and Premium plans. Some Wall Street analysts supported the move, while others worried that increasingly expensive subscriptions could encourage viewers to switch between services rather than stay subscribed year-round.
Not every streamer has relied entirely on higher prices. Another report highlighted HBO Max cutting its annual subscription prices by 40% ahead of its summer programming slate, offering consumers a discounted alternative to paying month-to-month.
Disney’s latest increases mark the fourth consecutive year the company has raised Disney+ and Hulu rates in the U.S. The change is particularly noticeable for Disney+ Premium, which cost $10.99 per month before its 2023 increase and will now cost $21.49.
Disney also recently increased ESPN Unlimited from $29.99 to $31.99 per month. Meanwhile, Pixar’s Toy Story 5 arrived on Disney+ Wednesday as the new pricing takes effect.
As individual plans get more expensive, Disney’s latest changes make its bundles a noticeably cheaper option for subscribers who want access to both Disney+ and Hulu.
