In addition to the Ms. Marvel television announcement, Kevin Feige revealed two more Marvel shows heading for Disney+. She-Hulk and Moon Knight were confirmed to be in development at the D23 Expo this past weekend.
The She-Hulk comic book series that the show is based on follows Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner. Banner is the original Hulk; he is played by Mark Ruffalo (Spotlight, Now You See Me) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Walters ends up with the Hulk’s abilities after receiving a life saving blood transfusion from Banner after she is involved in a near fatal shooting. Her character is a lawyer who takes some of her battles outside of the courtroom as she fights villains in her alter ego form. Walters’ version of the Hulk is similar to Banner’s in Avengers: Endgame in the sense that she retains her personality and language capabilities when in the Hulk form. Feige said the show is “going to be unlike anything we’ve done before.”

Moon Night is about Marc Spector, a former boxer and U.S. Marine who leaves military service to become a mercenary. Spector’s life takes a turn when he is betrayed and left to die in an Egyptian archaeological dig site. Followers of Khonshu, an ancient god, offer Spector to the deity who saves his life and gives him enhanced strength and durability. Spector uses his new abilities to become the vigilante crime-fighter known as Moon Knight. Feige said at D23, “He now may or may not be infused with powers from Khonshu, the moon god, or he may just be crazy!”

While no casting announcements have been made, one actor has expressed interest in Moon Knight’s role. Ross Marquand, who played Red Skull in multiple Marvel films, including Avengers: Endgame, is excited for Moon Knight to be adapted into a show. Marquand is a fan of the comic series and said, “On the off chance that [Red Skull] — I don’t know if he’s out of the MCU, or if he’s free to roam, or whatever — but if he doesn’t come back, I would love to play Moon Knight because that’s kind of Marvel’s — he gets compared to Batman a lot, like Marvel’s Batman, but he’s such an amazing character.”
She-Hulk and Moon Knight will join a multitude of other Marvel projects on Disney+ including The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Ms. Marvel, and WandaVision.
