Director Of Disney+’s ‘X-Men ’97’ Talks About Second Seasons Production

According to Comicbook, the director of Disney+’s animated series X-Men ’97 talks about the production for the second season. Director Jake Castorena (Batman: The Killing Joke, Batman Unlimited) spoke with Comicbook’s Phase Zero podcast about the current finale of the first season as well as the upcoming season. During the podcast, Castorena made it clear that there are more adventures to come for the Marvel mutants, but it will take time, the same way the first season took multiple years to develop.

Castorena said, “I equate it like, ‘We’re baking a cake right now.’ Nobody wants to ruin a cake. I don’t want to ruin a cake. Let us bake it,” Castorena laughed. “The cake is well underway and being made, being fabricated as we speak. There is no rest for the wicked I guess. To use that phrase. We rolled right into Season 2, while we were on Season one!”

Castorena continued the conversation by claiming, “It’s all about, we’re on a team. It’s something we realize that we give ourselves false parameters to make sure we’re checking our math.” He added, “Whether it’s nerd math, geographical math, whatever it is. We gave ourselves false parameters to make sure to keep us in check, to make sure we’re not going too far away from the original DNA that is the OG show. But, also adapting it. Fresh, but familiar.”

Created by Beau DeMayo (The Witcher, Moon Knight), X-Men ’97 shows many known mutants and new ones in a new animated setting. The series follows the X-Men, who face new challenges following the loss of their leader, Professor X. The new animated series has shocked many fans with its ten episodes, which has greenlit it for a second with a possible third following after.

X-Men ’97 and many other Marvel shows, such as LokiWhat If…? and Echo, are available to stream on Disney+.
