Dexter: Resurrection will return for its second season on October 30 on Paramount+. According to Deadline, Showtime also released a new teaser featuring Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under, Gamer) as Dexter Morgan undergoing an eye exam that reveals the premiere date alongside the phrases “He’s Back” and “He’s Sharper Than Ever.”
The teaser also shows Dexter handling his knives before revealing a new pair of glasses for the character. The October 30 premiere comes nearly one month after the 20th anniversary of the original Dexter, which debuted October 1, 2006.
Season two will find Dexter caught between two new killers. Brian Cox (Succession, Braveheart, Troy) will play The New York Ripper, a killer with decades of notoriety, while Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, Legion, Beauty and the Beast) will portray The Five Borough Killer, a younger serial killer terrorizing New York. Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us, Terminator: Dark Fate, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will also join the season as Ray Ballard, known as The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger.
The new season will also continue Dexter’s relationship with his son Harrison, played by Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird, The Blacklist, The Walking Dead: World Beyond). Harrison has joined law enforcement and is now working as an NYPD officer as both father and son face new threats.
Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, The Fall Out) will return as Charley, while David Zayas (Dexter, Gotham, The Expendables) will again appear as Angel Batista despite the character being killed by Leon Prater, played by Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, The Station Agent, Cyrano), during the first season. The franchise has frequently brought deceased characters back through Dexter’s memories and visions.
Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones, Breaking Bad, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23) is also set to return as Mia LaPierre, also known as Lady Vengeance, although Deadline reports that details surrounding her role remain unclear.
Desmond Harrington (Dexter, Gossip Girl, The Hole) has been promoted to series regular as Joey Quinn after appearing briefly during the first season. Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Overlord) joins the cast as Capt. Mixon, while Nona Parker Johnson (The Equalizer, Law & Order: Organized Crime) will play Fiona Mixon.
Returning cast members will also include Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (The Chi, Treme, The Lincoln Lawyer), Kadia Saraf (The Better Sister, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Blue Bloods), Dominic Fumusa (Nurse Jackie, 13 Hours, The Report) and James Remar (Dexter, The Warriors, Django Unchained). Remar has portrayed Dexter’s deceased father, Harry Morgan, throughout the franchise.
Other deceased characters have previously returned through Dexter’s visions, including Christian Camargo (Dexter, Penny Dreadful, The Hurt Locker) as Brian Moser and John Lithgow (Dexter, 3rd Rock from the Sun, The Crown) as Arthur Mitchell, also known as the Trinity Killer.
Clyde Phillips (Dexter, Nurse Jackie, Parker Lewis Can’t Lose) serves as showrunner and executive producer for the second season.
