According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dexter: Resurrection has locked in another recurring guest star in Dan Stevens (The Guest, Beauty and the Beast), who fans may remember as the internet personality and conspiracy theorist Evan Green on Netflix’s Zero Day. Paramount has been acquiring talent for the show recently, with announcements confirming the likes of Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol. 1) in a reprisal and the addition of Brian Cox (Succession, Troy).

Stevens will be taking on the role of a serial killer in New York City named “The Five Borough Killer.” This character is billed as a Zodiac copycat killer who “taunts the police with phone calls threatening the murder of innocent citizens.” Evidently, there are more than just threats, as the statement continues: “When he follows through with the awful deeds… the city and the police are terrorized.”

Other notable performances by Stevens include his recent performance in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and his award-winning performance in PBS’s Downton Abbey as Mathew Crawley.  He is also known for his performance in the FX superhero drama Legion, in which he played the role of the mutant David Haller.

Variety previously reported that the new season of Dexter: Resurrection will be the very first project filmed in the new state-of-the-art Sunset Pier 94 Studios in Manhattan. Paramount claimed it is looking to take advantage of more than just being the first tenants in the new studio. They also want to leverage local industry assets, as well as what they call a competitive tax credit. They have also reiterated their company’s commitment to U.S. production. This kind of posturing will sit well with Washington as they look to keep America first and self-reliant. The administration has signaled its approval for the merger currently underway between Paramount-Skydance and Werner Bros. Discovery. The deal has encountered much scrutiny from within the industry and pushback from political opposition. If and when it goes through, Dexter: Resurrection is set to become one of the crown jewels of the industry.
