‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season Two Debuts With 83% Rotten Tomatoes Score

Dexter: Resurrection has returned for its second season with an 83% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. According to ScreenRant, the rating is currently based on six reviews and could change as additional reviews are added.

The season two score is lower than the 95% rating earned by the show’s first season but remains one of the highest ratings among recent installments in the Dexter franchise. Dexter: New Blood currently holds a 77% critics score, while Dexter: Original Sin has a 70% rating.

Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under, Safe, Gamer) returns as Dexter Morgan alongside Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Dangerous Liaisons) as Charley and Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird, Dexter: New Blood) as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan.

Season two also introduces Brian Cox (Succession, Zodiac, The Bourne Identity) as the New York Ripper and Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, The Guest, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire) as the Five Borough Killer. Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Jason’s Lyric) joins as Capt. Mixon, while Nona Parker Johnson (Law & Order: Organized Crime, Mayor of Kingstown, Fear the Walking Dead) stars as his daughter Fiona Mixon.

Other returning cast members include James Remar (Oppenheimer, Sex and the City, The Warriors) as Harry Morgan, Desmond Harrington (Gossip Girl, Elementary, The Astronaut Wives Club) as Joey Quinn, Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones, Breaking Bad, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23) as Mia LaPierre and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family, The Secret Life of Pets, CSI) as Al Walker.

Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Terminator: Dark Fate) also joins the season as Ray Ballard, while Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (Treme, The Lincoln Lawyer, Blood Diamond) returns as Blessing Kamara.

Early reviews for season two have praised Hall’s performance and the series’ exploration of Dexter at a different stage of his life. ScreenRant’s Sean Morrison described the new season as potentially one of the franchise’s strongest seasons in recent years.

The first season of Dexter: Resurrection previously set several records for Showtime. The series drew more than 3.1 million global cross-platform viewers during its opening weekend and became Showtime’s most-streamed and most-watched premiere at the time.

The Dexter franchise originated with author Jeff Lindsay’s (Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter, Dexter in the Dark) novel series. Darkly Dreaming Dexter was released in 2004 before Showtime adapted the character for television in 2006.

Dexter: Resurrection season one is available to stream on Paramount+, while the season two premiere is now available.
