In 2022, Dennis Miller became the President of The CW Network. According to Deadline, Miller’s presidency came about when the Nextar Media Group took a large amount of ownership of The CW Network. Now, Miller has been re-elected as President through 2027.
As noted by Nextar Media Group, Miller has a vast amount of experience working for different media companies, such as Sony Pictures Entertainment, Lionsgate Television, and Turner Network Television. Additionally, before Nextar Media Group’s ownership of The CW, Miller was a part of the Board of Directors for eight years.
According to Deadline, Perry Sook, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Nextar Media Group, spoke about Miller and his presidency. He stated, “Dennis has done an outstanding job since taking leadership of The CW. He and Brad Schwartz have completely remade the network and its brand, bringing a fresh, innovative approach to programming that is designed to grow viewership and deliver significant value for our advertisers, affiliates, and distribution partners.”
Sook continued, “When Nexstar acquired The CW, we said we intended to run it for a broadcast audience, and Dennis is doing just that—he has changed the way viewers think about The CW and this contract extension is well-deserved.”
According to Deadline, Miller explained that he is “extremely grateful” to continue his presidency. He continued to state that his goals are “finding entrepreneurial executives who are interested in building for tomorrow, taking advantage of marketplace disruption to find new models for entertainment and sports programming, and working toward becoming a competitive Big 5 network.”
Since Miller’s presidency, The CW Network has undergone changes. For one, President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz has recently announced sports and religion content as priorities for the network. Additionally, numerous scripted series have been canceled. These changes are a part of Miller’s attempt to transform The CW into a more competitive network focused on the future.
