While Demi Lovato (Sonny with a Chance) was attached to star in NBC’s comedy pilot Hungry, they have now stepped down from their acting duties due to scheduling conflicts, according to Deadline. However, they will remain executive producer alongside their manager Scooter Braun (The Giver).
Lovato’s role was recently recast with Ariel Winter (Modern Family), just as production is about to begin. The series follows a cast of friends dealing with their own issues with food, as they help each other through their respective crises.
Valerie Bertinelli (Hot in Cleveland), Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias (Mr. Iglesias), Ryan McPartlin (The Holiday Fix Up), Alex Brightman (Helluva Boss) and Ashley D. Kelley (Insatiable) are also slated to star in Hungry.
While the series was picked up by NBC for a pilot in April 2021, most of the cast wasn’t revealed until the summer. Sean Hayes (Will & Grace), Todd Milliner (Lazy Susan), Lovato, Braun, Scott Manson (The Perfect Host) and James Shin (Dave) will executive produce.
