Dean Norris Cast in History Channel Miniseries ‘Sons of Liberty’

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the History Channel has cast Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) in its new miniseries, Sons of Liberty.

Because of the short commitment of a miniseries History was able to attract big names that may not otherwise be interested in the show. History has used this to its advantage and set an all-star line-up for its six hour revolutionary miniseries, with Hans Zimmer creating the theme song. Kari Skogland (Boardwalk Empire) will direct. Ben Barnes (Chronicles of Narnia) has been cast as Sam Adams, Ryan Eggold (The Black List) as Joseph Warren, and Michael Raymond James as Paul Revere (Once Upon a Time). Rafe Spell (Prometheus) will play John Hancock, with Henry Thomas (Gangs of New York) as John Adams, and Dean Norris as Benjamin Franklin.

History’s official description for the series is “Calling themselves the Sons of Liberty, they light the spark that ignited a revolution. Though their names have become American legend, this group of young rebels didn’t start off as noble patriots in powdered wigs. They were a new American generation of young men from varied backgrounds, struggling to find purpose in their lives. They were looking for equality, but they found something greater: Independence.”

This latest miniseries joins History’s Texas Rising, Hatfields and McCoys, and The Bible as History’s number of miniseries grows.  A premiere date for Sons of Liberty has not been announced yet.
