According to ScreenRant, David Tennant (Broadchurch), who is known for many inserting roles such as the 10th Doctor in Doctor Who and Crowley in Good Omens has recently stated he would reprise his role as Kilgrave from Marvel’s Netflix series Jessica Jones. Since Charlie Cox’s (Kin) role as Daredevil is being brought back to life with Daredevil: Born Again and many actors are being brought back and added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe ,this opens up the debate if Marvel plans to bring back more actors to reprise their roles.
In Jessica Jones, Tennant played the evil villain Kilgrave and is one of the main antagonists of the series. Although Jones is known for being extremely powerful with both superhuman strength and durability, Kilgrave was one of the only things she had difficulty stopping. Kilgrave is a psychotic mind controller that, upon meeting Jones puts her under his control and forces her to do what he wants against her will.
According to ScreenRant, CoveredGeekly states that during the 2024 BAFTA’s on the red carpet, Tennant claimed to want to reprise his role. Warning: spoilers for the Jessica Jones series are ahead. There is one small issue that may stop Tennant from being asked to come back to the role, which is that Kilgrave is dead in the series.. Although dying in the first season, throughout the series the villain left a mark on Jones as she would randomly hear him and see illusions of him.
Tennant said, “I’d love to do Kilgrave again, yeah Kilgrave would be great. Yeah, that would be good wouldn’t it?! I mean… he did very much get his neck broken, he was very dead. But never say never in the Marvel Universe.”
All seasons of Jessica Jones as well as the other Netflix Marvel series that include Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and Defenders are available to stream on Disney+.
