Deadline noted that Dark Winds is set to be in Santa Fe for season five. However, in recent news, Martin Sensmeier (Wind River: The Next Chapter, 1883) he has gained a regular role as Terry Bai. Bai is a former Vet that who now works on a racetrack with childhood friends to Chee.
According to Deadline, Dark Winds posts the fourth season Sundays at 9 EST, and there is no set season five scheduling time. The show was renewed for season five directly after starting seasoning four. Along with Sensmeier, another cast member that was announced was Paola Núñez (Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Resident Evil).
Deadline reports that the show is based on the Leaphorn and Chee book series that is written by Tony Hillerman (Blessing Way, Dance Hall of the Dead). Dark Winds takes place in 1971 in a remote area that is in a Navajo nation near Monument Valley. It centers around Lt. Joe Leaphorn (played by McClarnon) of the law enforcement. As he creeps closer to the truth, he gets closer to the pain and the wounds of his past. His partner is Jim Chee, played by Gordon. Chee also helps out by setting things right with the youth on the reservation. Together, they discover the truth and set things on the right path.
According to Deadline, season four started with a search for a small navajo girl. It takes the main cast to race against the clock and the terrain to rescue her from a deranged killer. The season four cast is Franka Potente (Run Lola Run, Creep) as Irene Vaggan; Isabel DeRoy-Olson (Three Pines, Fancy Dance) as Billie Tsosie, Chaske Spencer (Winter in the Blood, Teacup) as Sonny, Luke Barnett (For All Mankind, Your Lucky Day) as FBI Special Agent Toby Shaw, Titus Welliver (Bosch, Gone Baby Gone) as Dominic McNair.
Deadline states that Dark Winds the television show, is created by Graham Roland (Neuromancer, Mile 22) and John Wirth (Nash Bridges, Remington Steele), who both also produce it. Other producers are Robert Redford (Indecent Proposal, The Way We Are), George R.R. Martin (The Hedge Knight, Fire and Blood), McClarnon, Chris Eyre (Smoke Signals, Skinwalkers), Tina Elmo (The Boosters, Sex In The City), Jim Chory (Someone Like you, The Spring), Thomas Brady (Stuck on You, Ted 2), Max Hurwitz, Vince Gerardis (ZeroZeroZero, Manhunt), and Anne Hillerman (Spider Woman’s Daughter, Song of The Lion).
