‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Trailer Teases The Punisher, Elektra

Marvel’s teaser trailers are designed to do just that, tease the audience and leave them wanting more. The latest clip for Daredevil season 2 stays true to form, offering micro-glimpses at previously announced new characters The Punisher and Elektra.

The trailer was attached to a season 1 recap reel debuted during NYCC, which is where Marvel introduced the first footage last year. The season 1 footage showcases the tightly choreographed action and gritty look that made the show an instant hit for Netflix. Watching it is like riding a freight train to a sudden stop. Season 2 is set up as whispery and thoughtful, starting with a pan over a cemetery and Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) question: “Father, why do I still feel guilty?” and ending with Punisher’s quiet “Bang.”

Season 2 material starts at about 1:30.

Whether Murdock gets the answer to his question seems dubious as Father Lantorn’s response is “Guilt can be a good thing, it’s the souls call to action,” indicating that someone may have to learn how to listen to his emotions. The scene also features Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, confirming their return, and we get a peek at Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple.  Jon Bernthal has previously been announced as The Punisher, though we only get a glimpse of his back in the teaser, and Elodie Yung as Elektra.

Daredevil was the first show in Marvel’s multi-show deal that brings to life the formation of The Defenders, one of Marvel’s street-level superhero teams. The second series, Jessica Jones, releases November 20 at 12:01am PT and Luke Cage releases in 2016. An Iron Fist show is also planned but rumors are circulating that Netflix is having problems with the storyline and considering scrapping the show. How that will affect the planned Defenders miniseries is uncertain.

No release date has been set for season 2 of Daredevil but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear.
