According to Deadline, Danny Ramirez (Look Both Ways, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) will not be returning for the third season of HBO Max’s The Last of Us. Ramirez starred alongside Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart, Last Man Standing) as he played the role Manny Alvarez, a fellow Firefly, appearing in four episodes of Season Two. He dropped out ahead of the production of the third season of the series do to scheduling conflicts.
As per Deadline, the series, based on popular game franchise with the same name, was co-created and directed by Neil Druckmann (Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier), and was renewed for a third season before Season two aired on the streamer when it aired last April. The finale of the second season gives a hint that viewers would experience three fraught days over again in the third instalment, this time from Abby’s perspective.
According to Deadline, The Last of Us is based on the popular video game franchise of the same name. The game and series focus on Joel and Ellie, two unlikely individuals who have to work together to survey the now-infected wasteland. Through their adventures to reach their goal, they meet different individuals and perils. Alongside Ramirez and Dever cast of the series also includes Pedro Pascal (Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Fantastic Four) as Joel, Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, Hilda) as Ellie, Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate, Bernie) as Tommy, Rutina Wesley (The Official Queen Sugar Podcast,13 Sins) as Maria and many others.
“We haven’t seen the last of Kaitlyn Dever, and we haven’t seen the last of Bella Ramsey, and we haven’t seen the last of Isabela Merced, and we haven’t seen the last of a lot of people who are currently dead in the story,”co-creator of the TV series Craig Mazin (Chernobyl, The Hangover Part III) told Deadline in May.
As per Deadline, in July it was stated that Druckmann would be stepping back creatively from the series adaptation, meaning he will not write or direct any episodes in the third season. Although he will stay on continuing to be the co-creator and executive producer
The Last of Us is available to stream on HBO Max.
