Danielle Panabaker (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) will be directing the final season of the CW series The Flash, according to ComicBook. The Flash’s final season will be premiering in February and ending another line in the CW’s Arrowverse that not even the speed force could stop. Panabaker, who also plays a role in the series as Caitlyn Snow aka Killer Frost, will be directing the ninth episode of the ninth and final season. This is no shock to fans as Panabaker had directed an episode of each season since season five. She is credited for episodes like ‘’Godspeed’’, and ‘’Keep it Dark’’.
According to ComicBook, Panabaker says, “Today is the first day of pre-production for season nine, episode nine, and it is the last episode of The Flash that I will direct. I’m so excited to direct this episode. I am just filled with so much gratitude for getting to do this for a fifth and final time on our show.”
Panabaker also stated in an interview with ComicBook earlier in the year, “One of the things I love directing about Flash is that Eric really empowers every director to make their best version of the show. You don’t need to stick to any formula. You can do whatever you feel best is needed to tell the story. And the movie he gave me for reference for this episode was Assault on Precinct 13, which is not a movie that I knew even. And so, it’s a different genre for me and its’ been fun the last couple of years. In Season 6 it was meant to feel like a Bond movie and then this year’s is shot a little differently. It’s a little darker, there’s a lot more handheld. So, it’s been fun to get to do and direct different episodes and get to explore all the different tools that come along with that.”
The Flash follows the story of Barry Allen played by Grant Gustin (Rescued by Ruby) who is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later after the coma, he awakens to super speed abilities granting him the power to protect Central City and its inhabitants. Season nine of the series will pick up after the epic battle and defeat of the Reverse Flash and will center on a group of rogues who bring chaos to Central City. Although these rogues pose a real threat in the season they will not be the only evil lurking around the corner as there is always a stronger advisory.
The final season of The Flash will be premiering on CW Wednesday, February 8 and will consist of 13 episodes.
Fans can catch up on the series as all current seasons can be streamed on Netflix.
