Harry Potter movie lead Daniel Radcliffe (Jungle, Guns Akimbo, The Lost City) has explained that Max’s upcoming TV series, Harry Potter, should distance itself from the original film series. Variety reports that the possibility of him making a cameo in the series would be quite impossible. From 2001 to 2011, Radcliffe was the main character in all eight Harry Potter movies.
“I don’t think so,” Radcliffe explained to E! Online when asked if he could ever star in the new series via Variety. “I think they very wisely want to [have] a clean break. And I don’t know if it would work to have us do anything in it. I’m very happy to just watch along with everyone else.”
According to Variety, Radcliffe politely refused to participate in any more Harry Potter-related talk afterward. When the famous actor was asked if Max had contacted him to be in the series, he replied, “I’m going to be a politician about this and not deal in hypotheticals.”
Last year, according to Variety, Radcliffe told ComicBook.com that whatever the Harry Potter series becomes, it could be something new for the worldwide-famous franchise.
“My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere,” Radcliffe explained, via Variety. “I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way. But I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world and I’m very excited to have that torch passed. But I don’t think it needs me to physically pass it.”
“We’ve not been shy about our excitement around Harry Potter,” Zaslav explained, via Variety. “We are just thrilled to be reigniting this franchise. Our conversations were great, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. We can’t wait to share a decade of new stories with fans around the world on Max.”
Currently, there have been no casting announcements for the Harry Potter series.
