Dan Butler And Edward Hibbert To Return To ‘Frasier’ Revival

According to TVLine, Paramount+ has announced the return of Dan Butler (The Silence Of The Lambs, The Fan) and Edward Hibbert (Mary Poppins Returns, The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride). The two are expected to reprise the roles of Bob “Bulldog” Briscoe and Gil Chesterton in the show’s second season, respectively.

TVLine reports that Kesley Grammer (Cheers, The Expendables 3), star and executive producer of Fraiser’s revival, said in a statement on Tuesday, “Dan Butler and Edward Hibbert have made an indelible contribution to television. I am overjoyed to welcome them back to Frasier and for the opportunity to work together once again.”

Butler’s character Bulldog acted as a series regular from seasons four to six and appeared in all but one season of the original show. Host of the Gonzo Sports Show, Bulldog acted as a constant unrequited suitor pursuing Fraiser Crane’s assistant, Roz. Hibbert likewise appeared in all but 1 season of the original show as the host of the Restaurant Beat radio show host.

This announcement comes on the heels of Peri Gilpin (Broad City, Scorpion) being announced as the actor of the returning character Roz Doyle. Greer Grammer (Awkward, The Middle) has been announced to play Roz’s daughter, along with Yvette Nicole Brown (Act Your Age, Good Times) as Monica and Amy Sedaris (Bojack Horseman, The Mandalorian) as Dr. “Doc” Sathos, an old fan of Fraiser’s talk show.

A reportedly important casting is Patricia Heaton (Thirtysomething, Beethoven) as Holly, who, according to TVLine, is “down-to-earth, unpretentious and openly mocking of overly-intellectual types. A Boston native who tends bar at upscale restaurants and events, Holly is extraordinarily comfortable with both who and where she is in life, a quality that the always-climbing, always-reaching Frasier finds as alien as he does attractive.”

No release date for the second season has been announced, but be sure to tune in to Fraiser when it releases on Paramount+.
