Pendragon Cycle: Rise of Merlin is set to be The Daily Wire’s first ever live action scripted series, and largest undertaking as a company to date according to The Hollywood Reporter as they just dropped the trailer for the show, which can be seen here:
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be based on the New York Times best-selling series (selling over thre million copies over it’s lifetime) of novels by Stephen R. Lawhead. The series spans six books, which started back in 1987. Running all the way up to 1999.
The series’ official logline reads: a TV series adaptation of Stephen R. Lawhead’s novels (Hood, Byzantium), set in a Roman-occupied Britain, where a mystical emissary named Merlin informs a young man that he is the reborn Arthur, the legendary King of Summer. As he embarks on a quest to unite Britain against powerful enemies, he must navigate a world of magic, conflict, and rival sorcery to fulfill his destiny and prevent the island’s fall.
As the series prepares to premiere on January 22nd of 2026 on DailyWire+, according to The Hollywood Reporter, co-creator, co-writer, and Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing (Arroyo, Shut in) said in a statement that the series is: “the culmination of a 10-year vision to create culture, not just to criticize it. Lawhead’s novels present a visceral, masculine Christianity in a world of conflict and mystery. It isn’t saccharine or clean. In short, it is very much like our world. I’m so happy to share our adaptation and the work of our remarkable cast and crew with the Daily Wire audience.”
The series will feature Tom Sharp in his debut role as Merlin, Finney Cassidy (Andor, The Liberator) as Aurelian, Rose Reid (A Thousand Tomorrows, Finding You) as Charis, and many others to make a dynamic ensemble cast to bring this new retelling of the Arthurian Legend to Life.
Even though the Daily Wire has produced feature films, documentaries and even animated TV shows, this is a big step for the company, as being their first full-length scripted live action drama series, which will put it against other big time hitters coming soon during January of next year such as HBO’S a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and other new shows and seasons dropping. Meaning that they will all be competing for the audience’s attention, which means that the viewers ultimately decide who comes out on top.
