The official trailer for the Elseworlds crossover event has arrived. For several years now, the CW’s shared TV universe has held annual crossover inspired by famous comic book stories such as Invasion, Crisis on Earth-X, and now, Elseworlds. The next event will air over the weekend of December 9 through December 11, beginning with The Flash, continuing with Arrow, and finishing with Supergirl, all three episodes will air at 8 p.m. EST.
The trailer itself confirms that The Monitor is the one responsible for giving Dr. Deegan the item that allows him to rewrite the world as we know it in ways that have yet to be revealed. In addition, the trailer highlights glimpses of Tyler Hoechlin as a black-suited Superman and John Wesley Shipp in his 1990s The Flash TV Show costume.
Arguably, most of the anticipation for the television event of the winter season stems from the debut of Batwoman as played by Orange is the New Black star and LGBTQ advocate Ruby Rose. The crossover is sure to answer questions about her role in this multiverse and the options going forward concerning her own series which is set to debut on the CW next year. The event itself looks darker in tone than past crossovers, but the fun of seeing swapped-identities with our heroes and comic book easter eggs is sure to continue the, at this point, foaming out of the mouth anticipation for what is sure to be yet another historical landmark for Greg Berlanti’s beloved creation.
