Deadline has announced that new book-to-TV adaptation is in development at Hulu called These Summer Storms. Melanie Marnich (Apples Never Fall, The Affair) will serve as the official showrunner, developer, and executive producer of the show.
Set to also serve as executive producers of the TV adaption of These Summer Storms from Fatigue Sisters are are Erin Foster (Nobody Wants This, Barely Famous), Sara Foster (Nobody Wants This, He’s Such Girl) and Montana McBirney (Nobody Wants This, Skin Wars: Fresh Paint). These Summer Storms come as another series project that the sisters are executive producing on. Both Erin and Sarah are currently the creators and executive producers behind the Netflix romance comedy series Nobody Wants This, which just had it’s season three premiere of the show this past week.
Oly Obst (The Last House, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die) from 3 Arts and best-selling author Sarah MacLean (A Rogue by Any Other Name, One Good Earl Deserves a Lover) are also credited as executive producers of the new series. MacLean is the author behind the 2025 instant international best-selling novel that the series will be based on, These Summer Storms. Maclean has been expressing nothing but excitement surrounding the news of TV development of These Summer Storms. She has been praising the team behind the show, admiring their talents and thanking them for her dreams coming true with the TV adaption of her novel.
These Summer Storms is about a daughter, Alice Storm, who’s returning to her home and her family following the news of her father’s death. The show will explore how the family will discuss and navigate life after her father’s death. Alice is coming home after being outcasted from her own family for years, as she had been trying to build a life outside of the prominent family’s last name, Storm, and the influence and money that came with it. The show will be based off a private island, where the family estate is, off the Rhode Island coast.
