Craig Parker has been Cast to Join The CW’s Reboot ‘Charmed’

The CW Charmed reboot has cast Craig Parker (Reign, Lord of The Rings) to be Alastair Caine. He is likely to become the first major and reoccurring villain to be revealed in the upcoming series. With all of the Charmed Ones already being cast and introduced, the only thing missing was the first major villain.

Parker’s character is the CEO of Morningstar Biotech, and he is also the benefactor of Hilltowne University laboratory. Interestingly enough, Macy (Madeleine Mantock) works at the same university. Alastair is a charismatic businessman that will create trouble to the Charmed Ones both personally and professionally.

While it has not been officially announce that Alastair is actually going to be a major villain, according to ComicBook.com there are some similarities between both Alastair and Rex Buckland (Neil Roberts), from the original Charmed first season, as well as, some references that could mean he is evil. Firstly, there is the company name. In the biblical meaning of Morningstar, it usually references Satan. There is also the professional connection between the two. Alastair and Rex are both CEOs; however, it is worth noting that they are CEOs of two completely different types of companies.

Executive producer for the reboot Jessica O’Toole stated, “We didn’t want to make it too easy for them to solve things with magic, so I think we pulled back a little, which doesn’t mean that the power won’t evolve. Based on the original, the powers do evolve so that’s something we’ve had in the back of our minds as something we could get to.”

Charmed will be premiering on Sunday October 14th on The CW.
