Corbin Bernsen Cast As Vulcan In ‘American Gods’

American Gods has tapped Corbin Bernsen (PsychL.A. Law) to be Vulcan, one of Mr. Wednesday’s (Ian McShane) oldest partners.

According to Deadline, Bernsen’s Vulcan may be a recurring role in the Starz series, though nothing is confirmed as of yet. In the series, Vulcan is not exactly thrilled with Mr. Wednesday’s plans. He has built a fine life for himself in the modern world, and is resistant towards the idea of leaving his life behind to help his old ally.

American Gods, based on the Neil Gaiman fantasy novel, centers on the growing tension between the Old and New Gods of the world. The Old Gods, with their mythological roots, are losing followers to the modern-era New Gods who represent modern obsessions like media, technology, money and drugs. The series centers on Shadow-Moon (Ricky Whittle), an ex-con who works as a bodyguard for conman and Old God Mr, Wednesday (McShane), as they travel on a mission cross-country in order to raise an army for battle.

The first trailer for Starz’s upcoming drama series premiered at San Diego Comic-Con last month. Corbin Bernsen joins a cast that includes Gillian Anderson, Yetide Badaki, Emily Browning, Cloris Leachman, Ian McShane, Ricky Whittle, Pablo Schreiber, Dane Cook, Bruce Langley, Peter Stormare, Jonathan Tucker, Demore Barnes, Orlando Jones, and Crispin Glover.

American Gods is set to premiere on Starz sometime in early 2017.
