Derek Waters has a whole new season to get sloshed with comedians and discuss our nation’s storied past.
Deadline reports that at the TCAs Comedy Central announced that it has picked up a fifth season of Waters and Jeremy Konner’s Emmy-winning Drunk History. Season 5 of the series will consist of 14 episodes and premiere later this year.
“So excited and grateful to do a fifth season,” said Waters. “Oh what a ride it’s been! Thank you for driving me home.”
Drunk History, as the name implies, features comedians drunkenly attempting to recount historic tales. These boozy retellings are punctuated by re-enactments featuring an impressive rotating cast of guest stars like Tim Baltz, Rich Fulcher, Jason Ritter, Tony Hale, Joe Lo Truglio, Jen Kirkman, Jenny Slate, Martin Starr, Ron Funches, Matt Besser, David Wain, Stephen Merchant, Bob Odenkirk, Lauren Lapkus, Colin Hanks, Jason Mantzoukas, Paul Scheer, John Lithgow, Thomas Middleditch, Rob Huebel, Rob Riggle, Winona Ryder, Jason Momoa, Brett Gelman, Jesse Plemons, Matt Walsh, Nathan Fielder, Sam Rockwell, Liev Schreiber, Jerry Minor, Eugene Cordero, Ben Schwartz, Ronda Rousey, Ian Roberts, Zach Woods, Louie Anderson, Andy Daly, Billie Joe Armstrong and Paul F. Tompkins to name a few. Last season had a major highlight with Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda narrating Burr (Aubrey Plaza) and Hamilton’s (Alia Shawkat) story for the entire episode.
Waters and Konner executive produce with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Owen Burke. The series is produced by Ferrell, McKay and Burke’s Gary Sanchez Productions.
